What is a text message (SMS)?

SMS stands for Short Message Service, a term synonymous with text messaging. A text message (SMS) is a short-written message which can be sent to and from mobile phones.

Can I receive text messages on my phone?

Nearly all mobile devices purchased in the last decade are capable of sending and receiving text messages.

Is there an advantage to using text messaging (SMS) marketing services?

We cannot guarantee that every message will be sent. As text messaging is a store-and-forward technology dependent on carriers and their networks, it is impossible to guarantee delivery.

Can I change the number or set a name that you send my text messages from?

It is not possible to send a message from a name as phone calls and text messages always originate from one of two forms of phone number: a regular ten-digit number; and a short code, which is a special five or six-digit number.

What are your fees? Am I required to sign a monthly contract?

We will never charge you any fees nor ask you to sign a contract. Instead, your account will be on a Pay & Go basis, allowing you to manage your finances accordingly. Once you use up the free credits in your account, you can purchase credit to suit your needs. In addition to Pay & Go plans, we also offer monthly packages which include everything from discounted messages to keywords.

Is there a difference between Express and Standard Delivery messages?

Express Delivery messages are sent from our short code connected to major mobile phone carriers. The speed and reliability of Express delivery is comparable to sending a text message from one phone to another. Standard messages, meanwhile, are sent using SMTP Email to Text technology. Messages are usually delivered consistently, but can sometimes get trapped in spam filters.

How long may I save my purchased credits?

The credits you buy have no expiration. If you are on a monthly plan, your credits will simply reset at the end of each billing period.

Will my carrier (or my contact’s carrier) charge for received messages?

Since every carrier offers different text messaging packages, there’s no guarantee that additional charges won’t be incurred.

Can I use my account to send group/bulk text messages?

Your account is perfectly suited for sending group/bulk messages. Simply sort your contacts into lists in order to contact the relevant people.

Will I receive replies to the group messages I send?

Any replies that you receive will be sent direct to your account inbox so long as the reply is received within twelve hours of your original text. We can even forward your replies to your mobile phone or email address.

Can I send a single text message?

Yes. Instead of selecting a group of contacts, enter a single telephone number when you write your message.

How do I purchase credits?

Simply click on ‘Buy More Credits’ and follow the on-screen instructions. Please note we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

How many characters can I include in a text message?

You can include up to 160 characters in an Express Delivery message (130 characters for Standard Delivery messages).

How long does a text message take to deliver?

Messages are usually delivered in a few seconds, but there may be a short delay during peak hours. Additional delays may occur if the recipient’s phone is turned off or is out of the coverage area.

Will I be limited to a certain number of text messages?

So long as you do not violate our Anti-Spam Policy, you may send as many text messages as you pay for.

Why did some of my contacts not receive the text that I sent them?

You need to ensure that your recipients have text messaging enabled. If your recipient pays for incoming text messages and has a low balance, they might not receive your message.

Will I have to pay for text messages that my recipients do not receive?

Yes. We charge you one credit every time our system sends a text message.

What is a keyword?

A keyword is a unique combination of letters and/or numbers that people will use to communicate with you via a short code.

How do keywords work?

You purchase the keyword from us, which will be setup on our shared short code. Customers can then send a message containing the specified keyword to automatically join your group messaging list. Our software will respond to them for you with a customizable message, confirming that they have joined.

Can I have any keyword I want? Are there any restrictions?

You can register any keyword you want through your account panel so long as it’s available

Carrier guidelines state you must include the following:
– Message & data rates may apply
– Frequency (ex: Max 2 messages per week)
– Opt out instructions
– Carriers supported

Why would I need more than one keyword?

Different keywords can be used to segment groups according to your campaign.

What’s a short code?

A short code is a five or six-digit number to which text messages can be sent from a mobile phone to access mobile content.

Where do you store by data and how do you protect it?

We store your information on our secure database server which no-one can access.

Who owns my data?

You own your own data. We will never try to contact the people on your lists or use your data without consent.

How long does it take to get started?

From sign-up, you could be sending your first messages in as little as a few minutes.

Do I need any technical knowledge/skills?

Our software is intuitive and easy to use, so you’ll get to grips with it in no time. If you do experience problems, contact support and our friendly team will assist you.

What’s a username?

The username you choose when creating your account will be your identity on our website. It’ll also pop up when messages are delivered to your contacts so they know who has sent it.

Why do you ask for my phone number when I register?

The reason we ask for your phone number is for security reasons. It is necessary for us to confirm that you are who you say you are, and that the number you provide is in fact your own.

Do I need to know the provider of my contacts?

Our software has been designed to figure out this information automatically. All you need to do is add them to your list by entering manually or by uploading a list.

Can I collect numbers on my website?

Yes. We provide an HTML signup widget that you can place on your website, Facebook page, etc.

How do I upload my contacts?

You may upload your contacts as an excel file, as a CSV file, or as a text file.
